What each ingredient is doing

• Vitamin D3 — 3,000 IU (375% DV): The centrepiece of this formula, and the nutrient most adults are genuinely short of, particularly through winter and if you spend your days indoors. Vitamin D supports normal immune function.
• Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) — 200 mg: A traditional seasonal botanical, rich in anthocyanins, providing antioxidant support against everyday oxidative stress.
• Vitamin C — 60 mg (67% DV): Supports normal immune function, and supports the body's natural collagen synthesis — which is why it matters for skin as well.
• Zinc — 2 mg (18% DV): A supporting amount rather than a headline one. Zinc contributes to normal immune function; at 18% of the Daily Value this tops up your intake, it does not replace a dedicated zinc supplement. We would rather be straight about that than call it a "power trio".

For parents — please read before giving this to a child

This product is labelled for adults and children 4 years and older. The vitamin C, zinc and elderberry amounts are comfortable for that range. The vitamin D needs a conversation.

3,000 IU is a strong adult dose, well within the 4,000 IU upper limit for adults. For children aged 4 to 8, however, 3,000 IU per day is the tolerable upper intake level — meaning one gummy puts a young child at the ceiling, with no room left for fortified milk, fortified cereal, or any other supplement containing vitamin D.

If you are considering this for a young child, speak to your pediatrician first and factor in everything else in their diet. For older children and adults, 3,000 IU daily is a reasonable and commonly used amount.

Why these four, and not fifteen

Plenty of immune formulas list twenty ingredients at amounts too small to do anything, because a long label looks like value. This one carries four, at amounts you can read off the panel and check.

Vitamin D does the heavy lifting. Vitamin C and elderberry are meaningful. Zinc is a top-up, and we have said so above rather than dressing it up. That is the whole formula.

• Citrus pectin, not gelatin: Soft texture, and it does not cling to your teeth the way gelatin gummies do.
